Biography Kathy Tipping

Born in Liverpool, 1970, and lived all over the UK before finally settling on the edge of Dartmoor in the Devon Town of Ivybridge.

Photography, for me, has been a cathartic pastime which has seen me through some difficult periods in my life. It has been a device which has helped to get me outdoors spending long, happy times alongside the wild animals which are my passion.

Formerly a Veterinary Surgeon and now a practising Student at Plymouth College of Art studying for an Extended Diploma in Photography, I hope to continue my work with animals and develop the portraiture side of animals in captivity.

I currently use a combination of Nikon D7000 with Nikkor AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G IF-ED VR for all my animal and bird work and use a Sigma f 3.5 10-20mm ultra wide angle for architecture and landscape. For general use I have a Nikkor AF-S 16-85mm f/3-5-5.6G ED VR DX.

I have already fulfilled a commission from Dartmoor Zoo to Photograph a portrait of every animal species in the zoo which was a wonderful, challenging and incredibly rewarding experience.
